New Scholarships
Attached are documents that outline the
application criteria for FCM's two scholarships for 1) college
and university students and 2) for secondary school students.
Both scholarships are designed to encourage more young women
to consider running for - and being elected to - municipal government.

The Brian Smith Memorial Scholarship
The Brian Smith Memorial Scholarships
funded by the Bank of America (through the Boys and Girls Club
of Ottawa) provide awards for two students graduating from a
high school in the Ottawa area to attend any university or college
in the City of Ottawa. One student will receive $5,000 while
a second student will receive $2,500.
This is a different type of award for two high school students
who are graduating this year. It goes to someone who has
had to overcome a significant hardship in their life and has
limited resources to attend university or college.

CCTT/ Manulife Scholarship
Scholarship value: $1000
Awards Available: 2
Award Deadline: October 1. 2010
Each year, the Canadian Council of Technicians
and Technologists (CCTT) through the generosity of Manulife
Canada, will award two $1000 scholarships to the son or daughter
of individual members of a CCTT Constituent Member (CM) Association.

MADD Canada Bursaries
Scholarship value: $2000
Awards Available: 1
Award Deadline: March 31. 2010
The MADD Canada Bursary fund is for Canadian students
who have had a parent or guardian killed in an impaired- driving
realted crash and are pursuing any full time educational program
that is approved by a provincial Ministry of Education. Bursaries
of up to $2000 can be awarded to qualifying students across

Retail as a Career Scholarship Program
Scholarship value: $1000
Awards Available: 25
Award Deadline: April 1, 2010
Retail Council of Canada, in partnership with
industry sponsors, will award more than $75,000 in scholarships
and benefits to students. To be considered for one of the scholarships:
Enrolled full-time or part-time at a Canadian college or university

The Marion Roberts Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship value: $500
Awards Available: 1
Award Deadline: July 15, 2010
Applicants must be the dependent child or spouse,
of a full time employee in an active AIA member company in good
standing. Confirmation of the parent's/spouse's employment must
be provided by the Member Company and be sent along with teh

Sens®
Foundation Scholarship Program – Algonquin College
The Sens Foundation, in partnership
with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, has established ten annual
scholarships of $1,000 each for students who will be studying
in full time programs at Algonquin College in Fall 2010.
